“OBSCURED RADIANCE" – Opening of the Art Exhibition at the Ramat Gan Theater

Obscured Radiance Invitation_rus (2).png

Finissage of the “Obscured Radiance” Exhibition with an Exclusive Performance by the Improvisation Theater “Plastilin”

On January 22, the Ramat Gan Theater will host the highly anticipated finissage of the “Obscured Radiance” exhibition, accompanied by an interactive performance from the renowned improvisation theater “Plastilin.”

Until January 22, visitors are invited to experience the “Obscured Radiance” exhibition, a highlight of the ArtNeuroVerse Biennale. The exhibition showcases the works of over 60 Israeli artists from various generations. On Wednesday, January 22, starting at 6:00 PM, the closing event will offer a memorable opportunity to immerse in this remarkable project on its final day.

The title “Obscured Radiance” symbolizes moments of joy amidst challenging times. Just like Hanukkah candles, happiness shines through anxiety and complex emotions, offering light and strength in the darkest moments. The exhibition, opening during Hanukkah and aligning with International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3, embodies this symbolism.

Set in the spacious, welcoming semi-circular hall of the Ramat Gan Theater, the exhibition creates a unique atmosphere. Visitors can sit with children, discuss impressions of the artworks, enjoy coffee, and connect with friends—all while feeling like they are in the intermission of a play. This atmosphere of contemplation and immersion into the art world was thoughtfully designed by the curators of “Obscured Radiance.” The narrative of the eternal struggle between light and darkness unfolds through more than 90 artworks, including prints, paintings, video art, and installations. Each piece contributes to a journey of light composed of vivid, joyous moments captured by artists from diverse cities and generations.

The exhibition’s opening event was attended by over 150 guests, including representatives of the Ramat Gan Municipality, curators, and ArtNeuroVerse Biennale initiators, who welcomed participants and presented gifts and awards. The delighted faces of children—project participants—shone with happiness, which was equally shared by the adult artists. Approximately 60 contributors participated in the exhibition, ranging from professional artists from Ramat Gan and beyond to talented children with autism. Notable contributors included Anna Bessonova, Oleg Babich, Katya Royz, Tatiana Belkina, and Philipp Blau, whose works demonstrated remarkable cohesion and artistic mastery.

The closing event promises to be just as captivating as the opening. As a special highlight, the theater “Plastilin” will present a bespoke performance, “Obscured Radiance”, created specifically for the ArtNeuroVerse Biennale. This interactive performance invites the audience to connect with those who often struggle to be seen or heard, encouraging viewers to embrace a different perception of the world. Guests will not just be spectators but co-creators, attuning themselves to the unique experiences of those who perceive the world differently.

Finissage Program on January 22 (Free Entry):

  • 18:00 – Mini Art Market: Purchase art souvenirs and support the project’s artists.

May 22 - Opening of the group exhibition "I SEE YOU" from the ArtNeuroVerse Biennale project at the Design Terminal Gallery.

You are invited to the opening of the international group art exhibition in support of recognizing the value of neurodiversity "I SEE YOU." The works of 30 authors with autism and other neurodivergences, as well as authors exploring the theme of neurodiversity in their art, will be on display at the Design Terminal Gallery until June 22.

For art enthusiasts, this is a rare opportunity to acquaint themselves with creativity in various mediums (video art, animation, painting, graphics, ceramics, mixed techniques, etc.) and discover new names of artists that are rarely found in announcements of vernissages and loud collective exhibitions because some authors do not speak and communicate with the world only through the images of their works. Thanks to six months of research and organizational work by the project volunteer team, we can now learn more about talented artists from Israel (and beyond) with a unique perception of the world.

"I SEE YOU" is an exhibition about how differently we see and feel the world, ourselves in it, our relationships with others, about fragile bridges between "me" and "others," about the feeling of visibility/invisibility in society.

Before visiting "I SEE YOU," everyone interested can familiarize themselves with sensory maps (detailed plan of the territory and events of the opening and exhibition) of the exhibitions or on the project's Instagram.

POP UP ART. "LET ME BE YOUR FRIEND"
Ramat Gan "Koma 2". 02.04.2024

Изображение WhatsApp 2024-03-20 в 12.42.48_8d87c3bf.jpg

On April 2, the day of dissemination of information about autism, the ArtNeuroVerse Biennale project, together with the Ramat Gan Youth Center “Koma 2” , held an international pop-up exhibition of artists with autism “Let me be your friend”, which was accompanied by a performance by a saxophonist, DJ, an art master class, a charity art market and a visit from specially trained therapy dogs.

On this day, it was important for us to once again draw public attention to the difficulties that people with autism in general and people of art and artists in particular have to face, as well as talk about inclusion in art institutions.

Often art is the only way for people with autism to express their feelings and say something to others, and our task is to make sure that the public and professionals (gallery owners, collectors, journalists) see it.

The exhibition featured the work of 23 artists with autism of varying ages and experience levels, including painting, drawing, digital art, animation, video art and sculpture.

Artists: Adi Hadad, Agnes Alana, Adas Udel, Arina Prasova, Arkady Erlich (aka UrsaeRigor), Bogdana Troyanova, Boris Pincus, Vova Volokhov, Guy Yaakov Hamel, Diana Galimzyanova, Elena Prasova, Ir:ka Solza, Inbal Reiner, Katya Frucht , Christina Burbela, Lea Glickstein, Lena Shteimberg, Mark Rafaevich, Melanie Perelshtein, Nata Korneeva, Nathaniel Pincus, Sasha Feldman, Nayama Chetrit, Michael Riggs. Curator: Katya Finkelstein.

The event attracted more than 200 people, including spectators, collectors and members of the press. We express our gratitude to the Ramat Gan Municipality and the Koma 2 Youth Center for their support.

Future exhibitions are planned at Design Terminal Gallery (Bat Yam) in May and HaMekarer Gallery (Tel Aviv) in July. Participation is free, details are available on the project website. We also look forward to opening a gallery dedicated to the art of neurodivergent artists and holding a biennial dedicated to neurodiversity and inclusion in the arts.
