Open calls for artists

Group Exhibition on Corporeality
Application deadline: May 15
“Why should our bodies end at the skin?”
— Donna Haraway
We invite artists to apply for participation in a group exhibition exploring corporeality: the body as image and experience, as a mode of perception, as a site of political struggle, and as a shifting cultural and artistic phenomenon.
The image of the body in art has evolved throughout history alongside society itself—from idealized forms to the body as a site of vulnerability, identity, control, and resistance. This exhibition proposes to reflect on the contemporary condition of the body and the ways in which it is examined, interpreted, and expressed in art today.
The project focuses on artistic practices that engage with the presence and representation of the body, sensory and affective experience, physicality, vulnerability, and transformation, as well as personal and collective relationships to the body. Works in all media are welcome. The open call is intended for artists aged 18 and above.
We especially encourage submissions from artists who identify as neurodivergent, while the project is remaining open to a wide range of artistic approaches, media, and perspectives. The project seeks to create a space for self-representation and for a multiplicity of embodied experiences that extend beyond normative conceptions of the body.
The exhibition will take place at the Bat Yam Institute of Art (18 Simcha Holzberg St., Bat Yam), from June 1–30, with the support of Art Neuroverse Biennale.
Curated by Kate Finkelstein and Adina Victoria.
